boehner. >> john boehner is a washington lifer and was not the obvious choice to be leading this sort of tea party crafts. nonetheless you can see the tea party phenomenon for the trade -- freight train that it was an elected to be on the train rather than underneath it. speaker boehner campaigned heavily for a number of the tea party freshman andy also you know believe that this presented the republicans and indeed america with a great opportunity. his belief for example was that this would be a perfect run for entitlement reform. if you are are going after entitlement reform ideally you have the bipartisanship specifically at democratic president so they could not walk away from it. and so, he believed that he could leverage the deep conservatism of the tea party. but he has failed to do so and the tea party freshman with whom i have spent a great deal of time and i have spent time with an awful lot of them, liked him personally and found him admirable in the way is a genial ceo but certainly not as there are real leader. that has been implicitly clear throughout the 112 congress. e

of the package,c it makes it really hard. john boehner could not even pass a tax proposal that he suggesting that would keep the taxes the same for everybody except people making over a million dollars.llio nope, grover and the boys said s no. can't do that. so he voted -- didn't p even bring it up for a vote. so i am here, i'm happy to listen to anything the speaker and the republican leader have. they have the way of getting to the president. they don't need my help. but i'm happy to work with them any way that i can. but the way things have been but going, it's not a really goods cape hatch that we have --ve. escape hatch that we have.they they're out of town, they won't be back for two days, 48 hours. so that's where we are.

. they're not here. they are not here. john boehner seems to care more about keeping his speakership than keeping the nation on a firm financial footing. it's obvious what's going on. he's waiting until january 3 to get reelected to speaker because he has so many people over there that won't follow what he wants. that's obvious from the debacle that took place last week. and it was a debacle. he made an offer to the president, the president came back, they're just a little bit apart, and he walked away there that and went to plan b. which all it did is whack people who need help the most. poor people. and he couldn't even pass that. remember, he's not letting the house of representatives vote, he's letting the republicans vote. it was so bad and he was in such difficult shape there he wouldn't even allow a vote to take place with his republicans because he knew he would lose. for months he's allowed house republicans to hold middle-class taxpayers hostage to protect the richest 2%. and the funny part about that, mr. president, the 2% don't want to be protected. the majority of rich people
